Whether you’re finishing a demanding workweek or going through a difficult time, sometimes it can be hard to take a break and treat yourself. According to research from the Mayo Clinic, studies have shown that relaxation is linked to fewer sick days, better quality sleep, and less health-related issues. So go ahead and practice some self-love! Splurge on a fresh mani-pedi or new pair of leggings. Go for that slice of red velvet cake that you have been meaning to pick up all month.

All women need to make time for themselves – without feeling guilty. Once you start practicing self-care on a daily basis, you will begin to stop pressuring yourself and learn to say yes to happiness. Check out these five ways to pamper yourself with self-love and happiness.

Meditate

Learn to practice daily affirmations of self-love. Our thoughts play a strong role in our behaviors and emotions. Through meditation, you can recite positive mantras that encourage self-compassion and focus on loving yourself. Mindfulness means having an open attitude without judging, and always aim to keep your focus in a positive light.

Schedule “ME” time

There is always someone who needs you – your spouse, kids, boss, friends, siblings, parents, etc. But do you ever think about someone else who also needs you? You! Learn to love yourself before you can love others. Take time to nurture your well-being and do things that make you happy. Go for a solo workout, pamper yourself, or just spend time alone to restore energy.

Have a Spa Day

Whenever you feel overwhelmed by the week of stress, have a spa day! You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on a trip to the spa. Instead, you can bring the spa home! Prepare a hot bath and play calming music. Turn off the lights and light some sweet-scented candles for a relaxing ambiance. If you have extra time, pour yourself a glass of wine and treat yourself to a facial mask. It is the perfect way to spoil yourself without much effort.

Learn to Accept & Let Go

Adopt a mindful attitude and pay attention to your inner thoughts. This will allow you to notice what you are feeling and what makes you feel upset. The moment you realize your negative thoughts, you can stop and say “…this is a difficult moment.” Once you’ve said these words aloud, think about how to improve the situation and let go.

When you learn to pamper yourself regularly, you will find out who you really are and love yourself. Life may not always be easy, but how you live your life is what makes it worth living. When you take care of yourself, everything around you will improve dramatically.
